the sound studio

the sound studio

It’s rare that a client gives us complete freedom to run with an idea for their space. In this instance, the owner is a music enthusiast and wanted a room dedicated to listening to records. Their request; “I want very little if any flat walls. It helps with sound.”

What began as a theoretical study of acoustics is now emerging as a sculptural space of structure. The framers shown below are carving the walls and rafter radiuses to adhere to the design in what hopes to be an inspiring space. It will be interesting to see this room finished. The true test will be the record player.
